CFP for the G19 New Book Forum

C19’s Graduate Student Collective (G19) seeks graduate students interested in contributing to the G19 New Book Forum. The forthcoming series features conversations between emerging and well established scholars from across the field of nineteenth-century American studies.

Roughly once per term, 2-4 respondents will meet virtually to converse with a selected author and discuss their work, methodological questions, presentist concerns raised by the work, and new directions in the field. They will gain the opportunity to learn directly from, and network with, the scholar, and will then publish the edited interview. Selected participants are expected to acquire and read the text independently in advance of the Zoom conversation, and to collaboratively edit the recorded interviews for publication.

Interested graduate interviewers should please reach out via email detailing your interest in the series and any particular texts or topics you would like us to cover. Email g19collective@gmail with proposals and questions.

The Graduate Student (G19) Collective aims to support the development and continued quality of C19 by offering graduate students and junior faculty opportunities to participate actively in the life of the organization. We strive to build a coherent community for all interested graduate students working in the field to reach one another and provide cross-institutional support.
